August CURRENTLY!

I'm linking up with Farley for this month’s Currently!

Listening - I LOVE watching Saved by the Bell and thanks to Netflix I have 99 episodes at my fingertips

Loving - Excited doesn't even scratch the surface of how I feel about moving to Boise and starting 2nd grade at Sage International in a few weeks!!  To top it all off I got an apartment with one of my very best friends!

Thinking - So now that I am moving down to 2nd grade my blog title A Little Bird in Third doesn't fit anymore.  So I am pleading asking my teacher friends who have been in the blog-o-sphere longer than a year like me...what should I do?

Wanting - As fun as moving to Boise is, unpacking all those boxes is not my favorite thing in the world to do.  But I am determined to get completely set up this week because next week I will be moving into my brand new classroom!!  *happy dance*

Needing - My room is a bit of a mess but I'm thinking I will just wait until tomorrow to finish packing and just get ready to go see Transformers with my brother at the drive in!  He claims he's never been so we are going to do a little sibling bonding at watch some transformers duke it out on the big screen :D

I am meeting up with the other two second grade teacher in a few days to meet and come up with our supply list.  I can't wait to meet these phenomenal teachers and gear up for a GREAT year!!

Throwback Thursday!

Holy cow folks!  I have 20, yes, 20 days till my very first day as a teacher!!  This is ca-ra-zy!!!   I feel so prepared and unprepared all at the same time but I am confident that with the help of all the amazing teachers at my school I'll do just fine :)  In celebration of my first day coming ever so soon I am linking up with Jessica over at Literacy Spark for . . .
Now for the biggest reason for this post - my Monday Made It!  This linky party is hosted by Tara at 4th Grade Frolics, so after you're done here go check out all of the other Made Its and show them some love :)

Made It #1

I am all for giving my kiddos numbers to keep everyone organized!  I also think it is incredibly helpful when they leave the classroom, to know who is where and keeping all that info on something relatively small.  (did that make ANY sense?)  Anywho. . . I have seen variations of this all over and my master teacher used something like this last year, except hers was only for the bathroom. I wanted my to cover a wider range of locations and this is my final creation!  I am thrilled with how it turned out!!

I found this magnetic whiteboard on sale at Fred Meyers-$6 what what?!?!

I found these colorful magnets at Walmart and just wrote the numbers on them.  The painters tape, washi tape and sharpie I already had on hand.

Made It #2

I couldn't help but smile as a made these cute little Quiet Critters!  I'm still working on their container but the important part is done right?!  I originally found this idea from Teaching Chick (thank you Pinterest for putting all of these fabulous ideas in one convenient place!!) Now, her critters had feet, but I thought mine were adorable as is. . . and I forgot to buy feet while out and about :)

All I used were the pompoms, wiggly eyes and good 'ol Elmers glue!

Silly me!  I didn't take any pictures of those critters all by themselves, but here are both my projects all done and ready to be put into my classroom!!

Thanks for joining me for this Throwback Thursday!  Now you can hop on over and checkout some other great throwbacks :)

CURRENTLY June

June? When did that happen? I'm linking up with Farly for CURRENTLY

listening: have you heard this song?!  I find it utterly adorable and it's been on repeat since I found it

loving: I just got back from an amazing Illustrated Mathematics conference in Boise and I am so so excited to implement all of the great things I learned in the fall!  My calendar is filling up mighty quick with all sorts of exciting things and I can't wait to get started crossing things off the list!
thinking: I'm a social individual and nothing makes me happier than going on adventures with some of my friends and summer is the best time to do it!
wanting: one of the events on my calendar is a big 'ol bbq at my house this weekend!  Up to 20 some odd people will be here for movies on the grass, water games, food, and a bonfire...anyone want to help me clean my house??
needing: I've got a to do list a mile long for the summer so I better get off my butt and start working!
summer bucket list: I am needing some time with my fam jam and friends this summer, but those stinkers are all over the west!  I'll be spending lots of time in my car...but it'll be worth it!

Time for you to go check out the other fabulous teachers who linked up this month!  Don't forget to leave some love :)

My Top 10 Things I Want to Do This Summer!

My summer officially began on May 22nd (happy dance!) after my kiddos went home and I turned in my completed report cards.  I am still in denial that my first year of teaching is actually. completely. totally. over.

But I wouldn't be honest if I also failed to mention that I am ECSTATIC that summer is here!! In celebration I am linking up with Mrs. Jump's Class for
http://mrsjumpsclass.blogspot.com/2014/05/top-ten-things-i-want-to-do-this-summer.html

1) After a year back in my hometown right out of college I think it's about time for another grand adventure! I am hoping to move to a city 2 hours away and find an apartment with my BFFAE Mari!

2)  I want to spend some time crafting and making some cute do-dads for my new apartment.  I haven't gotten to spend much time with my glue gun since the school year started :)

3) I (capital L) LOVE TO READ!  I have a mighty big stack of books that I plan on devouring this summer while my days are free

4) Create some products for TpT!  I used that site at least twice a week ALL YEAR LONG and I would love to be able to contribute to such an incredible resource!

5) I also have a stack of PD books I'm planning on reading so I can implement some new strategies for next year.

6) Head out of California for an overdue visit with the fam jam.  We weren't able to make it out for any holidays last year and I am dying to see my family!

7) Spend LOADS of time with these marvelous individuals before I move!  These friends have become so dear to me over the past year and I am going to miss them terribly! But if all goes according to plan I will convince them all to move with me ;)

8) With these fabulous friends we have decided to spend our summer completing the Southern Idaho {Date} Bucket List
http://idahobucketlist.blogspot.com/2014/04/top-40-southern-idaho-summer-date-ideas.html

9) Work around the house.  We've got a whole lot of land out here that has been taken over by weeds. But they are no match for me!  Weed tamer extraordinaire!
***This is a very accurate depiction of what my cat and I will look like combating the evil weed armies***

10) This summer I especially want to just relax, enjoy my time off, and make some lasting mental movies
