My Top 10 Things I Want to Do This Summer!

My summer officially began on May 22nd (happy dance!) after my kiddos went home and I turned in my completed report cards.  I am still in denial that my first year of teaching is actually. completely. totally. over.

But I wouldn't be honest if I also failed to mention that I am ECSTATIC that summer is here!! In celebration I am linking up with Mrs. Jump's Class for

1) After a year back in my hometown right out of college I think it's about time for another grand adventure! I am hoping to move to a city 2 hours away and find an apartment with my BFFAE Mari!

2)  I want to spend some time crafting and making some cute do-dads for my new apartment.  I haven't gotten to spend much time with my glue gun since the school year started :)

3) I (capital L) LOVE TO READ!  I have a mighty big stack of books that I plan on devouring this summer while my days are free


4) Create some products for TpT!  I used that site at least twice a week ALL YEAR LONG and I would love to be able to contribute to such an incredible resource!

 

5) I also have a stack of PD books I'm planning on reading so I can implement some new strategies for next year.

6) Head out of California for an overdue visit with the fam jam.  We weren't able to make it out for any holidays last year and I am dying to see my family! 

7) Spend LOADS of time with these marvelous individuals before I move!  These friends have become so dear to me over the past year and I am going to miss them terribly! But if all goes according to plan I will convince them all to move with me ;)
 

8) With these fabulous friends we have decided to spend our summer completing the Southern Idaho {Date} Bucket List

9) Work around the house.  We've got a whole lot of land out here that has been taken over by weeds. But they are no match for me!  Weed tamer extraordinaire!

10) This summer I especially want to just relax, enjoy my time off, and make some lasting mental movies

Five For Friday

Wow!  It's been a whirlwind of a few weeks!  But now that I finally feel like I'm decently caught up *sigh* I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs on this fabulous Friday!

This week (since it was only 3 days)  I set up a mystery festival and the kids had a BALL being crime scene investigators!  When they came into class on Tuesday they found this little disaster and they couldn't wait to get started!

 When we made our crime scene map, they suggested we add a key so that anyone could understand our map *insert happy dance* dang my kids are learning so much :)

They had so much fun hypothesizing and making inferences on Wednesday and Thursday during our crime scene testing.  Some came up with some pretty wacky scenarios but it was great to let them explore and try to solve the crime!

I have some little darlings that apparently think my dating life isn't nearly as exciting as it should be (even though they know nothing about it)  I have been receiving notes from a "secret admire" at least once a week for the past month.  My girls swear that he comes in really fast, gives them the note, then darts back out....what a mysterious man  ;) 

 At first they were pretty standard notes like "you're pretty" and "you're the best teacher ever" but then they started getting a little strange..

 ....I just.....I can't even....

There really is never a dull moment in room 207

I had one of my kiddos that set up a scavenger hunt just for me around the classroom!  How sweet is that?!?  My treasure was two cute little bookmarks she had colored for me :)

We also recently finished up our human body unit and my kiddos had a fabulous time learning about our brains! 

Every waking moment that I'm not in my classroom I am with these lovely individuals and I am so thankful for their friendship!  If I didn't have them, our little town would be almost unbearably boring  :)

 I got some fabulous Christmas jammies and now I never want to get out of them! 

 

I love Love LOVE both of these movies! I have seen both of these twice and I am planning on a third showing for each :) 

  

I am an avid TV watcher and thanks to the magic of the internet, I can keep up on all my shows even when I work late!

Whenever my friends and I all get together we end up at Shari's till 2am!  We are quite a crazy bunch of kiddos but I have the most marvelous time with them :) 

  

I tried singing solos in church this year and it was absolutely terrifying!  But since they didn't ban me from the choir I think it went okay :)

I got this book from my brother with the SWEETEST note inside!  Who knew he was such a softy!!

 

Do I have to choose just one?!  I am on Pinterest almost every.single.day.   But this one just warms my heart!

Well I don't have a whole lot since I started this puppy in June...but I really like this one

I graduated college and got a teaching job!  You can read about that crazy adventure here :)

 

I have found this SPLENDID group of individuals to call friends through church this year and we do everything together!  There are even a few teachers thrown into the mix!  

 

 Oh gosh...just any time I get to spend with my kiddos (students) just having fun!  They are the most fabulous group of 3rd graders!!

To remember to take a step back and just enjoy where I'm at.  Sometimes I forget to take a break and stop planning my life.

{Currently} December

Holy guacamole!  I can't believe how the school year had flown by!  December?  How did that happen?!? So I am linking up with Farly for this months Currently!

Listening - We got our wood stove taken out a few days ago and our existing fireplace was in great condition so now we have the absolute JOY of a fire any time we want!!!

Loving - I am the girl counterpart to Buddy the elf.  Seriously, we are kindred spirits!  This is my favorite time of year and I couldn't be more thrilled to be sitting at home watching the snow falling outside my window :)

Thinking - I am allllllll for the occasional snow day.  Especially since we have just gotten a brand new blanket of snow!

Wanting - When I was younger, my brother and I always got a new outfit for Christmas and Easter.  Even though I am a little older, I still love the tradition!

Needing - I find it so hard to focus on grading papers and planning lessons when there are romps to be had in the snow!

Favorite Tradition - I love singing, and I get such joy from singing at church!  And midnight mass is a time where magic just comes alive and there is a little bit of heaven everywhere!

Wow!  It has been a mighty long time since I blogged!  After school started I was just trying to get into a routine. . . and I think I am FINALLY getting there!  My kiddos are so sweet and I and I can't even describe how much I capital L Love teaching!   Anywho. . . 1. Why did you start blogging?

      I started blogging to share my adventures and steal find resources of all these incredible teacher

        bloggers!

 

2. What is your favorite subject to teach and why?

        I loving teaching every subject, I really do!  But I really enjoy teaching science.
 

3. Describe your teaching style.
         I am a very hands on, get your body moving kind of teacher.  If we can make something that goes

             along with what we are learning, I am all over it!

4. Give three interesting facts about you.

         1)  I played Charlotte from Charlotte's Web my freshman year of college

         2)  I am an avid watcher of all the bride shows on TLC

         3)  I am saving up for my first trip to Disneyland!

Last but certainly not least, I wanted to share some photos from my first few weeks of school in 3rd grade :)

A few weekends ago I got to take a trip up to my alma mater for homecoming!  It was a splendid weekend and we won our rival game!  GO SAINTS!! 

Currently September. . . When did that happen?!?

Holy guacamole!  I made it through my first week of teaching {ever} woohoo!  Now it's September and time to link up with Farley for CURRENTLY September :)

Listening - I have a not so little crush on Mr. Hunter Hayes.  I mean, we are the same age and I was just thinking. . . he's the kind of country star that needs an adorable first year teacher [like myself ] to be to completely smitten with, don'tcha think?

 Loving - My 3rd graders are the absolute SWEETEST!  They just live to please their teacher :)  These kiddos take out the trash just because it's full and are always willing to help in any. way. possible.  I hope they never grow out of such giving spirits!!

Thinking - I put off all my school work, except lesson plans, until today.  I was a frazzle lady!  I spent 5 hours in my classroom then came home to do more work!  Good thing I completely love my job!!

Wanting - I miss Carroll College!  I mean, I couldn't imagine actually being a college student again because four years was plenty for me! I miss all my friends and that sweet Carroll family I left behind.  I am ecstatic to visit during homecoming in a few weeks. . . Go Saints!

Needing - I need a few more hours in between 6 and 10 pm.  But until that happens I will just try and get all my work done in the time provided :)

Loving - The last of my good friends is moving away from our tiny little town *tear*  but I am going to take this opportunity to make some new friends!  It's really not too bad because I like making new friends!

After moving back to podunk U.S.A. I have jumped head first into youth ministry and music ministry in my parish.  I am so excited to be working with such a phenomenal group of individuals!  What a great place to make more friends!

Well there you have it! Now that I am getting into the swing of school, I am going to try harder to post more regularly. . . but we will see how that goes :)
